We would like to introduce you to Phil, one of the most experienced and passionate members of our community. Legally blind by the age of six, he has used many of the services and programs offered by Guide Dogs Tasmania and VisAbility – and built an amazing life.
Phil is living proof of the power of your support and kindness. And he is passionate about making a difference for other Tasmanians living with low or no vision, disability, illness or other life-challenges.
We know you understand how life-changing Guide Dogs are for people like Phil. He has had seven Guide Dogs in his life, with Dudley now by his side.
“My first Guide Dog was Faye, a cream labrador, back in 1984. I was just 16. I found it challenging, but we learned together, and worked together for eight years. She was fantastic. Faye gave me freedom and confidence I’d never had before.”
Today, Dudley takes Phil to work, to the gym, and helps him walk his son to school every day. He can’t imagine life without a Guide Dog at his side.
Phil and Dudley are part of our 2025 Christmas Appeal. Please visit our dedicated page to find out more about them, and how to donate to our campaign.
