VisAbility was proud to be part of the 2026 Round Table on Information Access for People with Print Disabilities Conference as a Bronze Sponsor, joining leaders, educators, technologists and community organisations from across Australia and New Zealand to explore how we can create a more accessible future.
The annual conference, this year held in Adelaide, is one of the sector’s most important opportunities to share ideas, challenge thinking and spotlight innovation in access to information for people with print disability.
This year’s program featured discussions on braille and tactile literacy, accessible publishing, STEM access and the fast-evolving role of emerging technologies in improving accessibility outcomes.
One of the standout themes of the event was the growing influence of artificial intelligence on accessibility and assistive technology.
VisAbility’s Senior Digital Accessibility Specialist Vithya Vijayakumare presented “Helper and Hinderer: AI and Digital Accessibility”, exploring how AI can support accessibility work through document remediation, captioning, alt text and content creation, while also underscoring the importance of human oversight and responsible implementation.
We are also delighted to share that Vithya has joined the Round Table Executive Team, helping shape national conversations about access to information.
VisAbility team members — Leone and Sam from our braille team, along with Ryan from our Youth Support team — also attended the conference, gaining fresh insights and practical ideas to bring back to the communities we support.
