Welcome to our new Therapy Assistant, Fyona

Fyona has joined our Hobart team as a Therapy Assistant. Working closely with our Allied Health Team, Fyona will provide on the ground support to our clients living with blindness or vision impairment. This includes enabling initial assessment, delivering hands-on education and guidance, and providing assistive aids and technologies.

Fyona will be working closely with Karen our Hobart Occupational Therapist (OT), and Laura, one of VisAbility’s OTs who is based in Perth, WA. Together Laura and Fyona will provide support to our clients through telehealth, which means we provide quality support to even more of our Tasmania clients.

Telehealth is the delivery and facilitation of health and health-related services via telephone and digital communication technology. VisAbility will go above and beyond the normal telehealth platforms, experimenting with some of the latest developments in technology to deliver our clients the best experience.

What does this mean for our clients?

Laura will see and speak to clients remotely from Perth, while at the same time clients will have the advantage of hands-on assistance from Fyona.

Additional to this 1:1 support, Fyona will run our very popular group sessions that allow multiple people to acquire the skills to live more independently.

Fyona and our OTs are currently working through an existing caseload of clients who are requiring OT services. Clients and the community will be notified once VisAbility is ready to open up new referrals for Occupational Therapy.
